Sutter MyChart

What is MyChart?
MyChart is a set of secure web-based health care services that facilitates communication between a patient and his or her health care team. MyChart pilot participants can securely and privately review their medical record, request prescription renewals, request appointments, get lab results and receive selfcare information and preventive care recommendations. As always, your medical information will be kept confidential.

What is the purpose of the pilot study?
The purpose of the pilot study is to assess the value and satisfaction of web-based health care services between patients and physicians - specifically focused on optimizing patient/physician communication. The results of this pilot study will aid in the future design of Sutter MyChart services.

What are the browser requirements?
For both PC and Mac:
  • Internet Explorer: 4.0 or higher (+)

  • Netscape: 4.08 or higher (+)

  • Cipher strength 128 bits

What mechanisms are in place to assure my privacy and confidentiality?
System - All communications between you and your SMF health care team are carried over a secure, encrypted connection directly into the SMF electronic medical record. SMF will only use MyChart for computer-based electronic medical
communication. While you may receive internet e-mail messages notifying you of new messages in your MyChart Inbox, these e-mails will not contain any confidential medical information.

Password - To access the MyChart server, you will be provided with a one-time access code. Once you have accessed the system, you will be prompted to create a unique identification (ID) number and password to be used to access your personal medical information via MyChart. Your ID and password are unique codes that identify you in the MyChart computer system.

Survey Data - During the pilot, you will be asked to respond to a brief pre- and post-satisfaction survey. At the conclusion of the pilot study, pre and post survey data will be analyzed to evaluate provider satisfaction and user convenience. Your name and other identifying information will be separated from your responses to maintain confidentiality. No individually identifiable information about you will be retained or reported.

What do I do if I forget my password?
Contact Sutter MyChart by email at smfepic@sutterhealth.org or call (800) 719-5559.

Am I or my health plan charged for the MyChart services?
No. Sutter Medical Foundation is providing MyChart services at no charge through the end of the pilot period.

How long will I have to wait for a response if I message my physician or health care team?
The anticipated turnaround time for response to electronic messages is 1 to 2 working days.
